Perspective (First World Worries)
THE STORY
A late taxi, slow Wi-Fi and an uncooperative coffee machine can fill the whole horizon when life is comfortable enough. The narrator catches himself doing exactly that. The humour also reaches ageing, filtered self-images and the suspicion that ten years from now he will wish he looked as he does today. His grandmother's voice interrupts the complaints with a simpler measure: being alive, healthy and surrounded by people who are safe. Perspective arrives as a change of scale. The inconveniences do not vanish, but they stop crowding out the things he would be devastated to lose.
